Carbon paper is a type of paper that has a coating of carbon or carbon-based pigment on one side. It’s used to create duplicates of handwritten or typed documents. When pressure is applied to the coated side of the carbon paper, such as when writing or typing, the carbon or pigment transfers onto the underlying paper, creating a copy of the original text or drawing.
